Beginning Dec. 4, Chef Anthony Marini will transform his beloved, tiny-but-mighty downtown Charleston sandwich shop, The Pass, into "The Italian Boy after dark"—an intimate, two-hour tasting experience. Every Wednesday through Saturday at 7 p.m., Marini will host a dinner party for just 12 guests each night.
At $110 per person, The Italian Boy after dark’s multi-course, family-style menu will change frequently based on seasonal ingredients and will feature an assortment of antipasti, crudo and pasta, along with panini imbottiti, a play on stuffed sandwiches. Guests can expect at least two panini imbottiti-inspired courses, from Marini’s take on his hometown classic hoagie to a fun, more modern sandwich interpretation.
“Sandwiches aren’t typically thought of to be worthy of culinary acclaim, and in theory, a 700-square-foot shop shouldn’t serve as home to a multi-course dining experience, but we have never followed the rules at The Pass, and I don’t plan to start now,” said Marini. “I can’t wait for Charleston to try our ‘restaurant within a restaurant’ opening in less than one month.”
Wine from The Pass’ retail offerings will be available with no corkage fee, and guests will also be treated to a complimentary cocktail during the meal. Due to the intimate nature of the space, parties of more than six cannot be accommodated. Reservations for December will open on Nov. 20 via Resy.
