The March of Dimes South Carolina market today announced Ted Finucan (pictured), Managing Partner of Davis Supply of Charleston, as the 2024 Chairman for the Charleston Signature Chefs Auction.
The 25th Annual Charleston Signature Chefs Auction will take place on Thursday, November 21st, 2024 at the Charleston Marriott.
The Signature Chefs Auction, the premier fundraiser for March of Dimes, celebrates the culinary excellence of top chefs across the Lowcountry. This black-tie event includes tastings from 12 Lowcountry restaurants, live and silent auctions and more.
The event raises awareness and funds to advance the scientific research, advocacy, and educational programs at the core of March of Dimes’ efforts to lead the fight for the health of all moms and babies.
South Carolina has an 11.6% preterm birth rate and a 7.3 infant mortality rate, which has not improved over the past decade. 415 babies died in South Carolina in 2021, and 17.2% of pregnant people receive inadequate prenatal care. These figures earned the state an abysmal “F” on the 2023 March of Dimes Report Card for South Carolina.
“While my journey into parenthood was relatively smooth, I recognize that many other families face unexpected challenges," Finucan said. "Supporting March of Dimes and chairing this year’s event is a way to extend compassion and solidarity to those families, and every dollar we raise is another step closer in improving the well-being of moms and babies in our community. As chair, my objective is to organize a memorable, enjoyable and flavorful event, leaving attendees with lasting impressions and generating crucial funds for March of Dimes’ vital work in South Carolina and across the country.”
Finucan, a Summerville native, became Managing Partner for Davis Supply of Charleston in June 2023. He is responsible for strategic growth and executive management. Prior to joining Davis Supply, Finucan worked for Kales Truck & Heavy Equipment, Cementos Argos, and Knight’s Companies. He has a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine from Winthrop University, and lives on Johns Island with his wife, Heather, children: Jack, 14, and Garrett Gray, 11, and dog, Fritz.
The Charleston Signature Chefs Auction features a special sponsorship level in memory of Mr. Bill Hall, Sr., who tragically passed away in 2020. He was the 2017 Signature Chefs Auction Chairman, served on the Board of Directors, was the first Roosevelt Society member in South Carolina, and was instrumental in starting the NICU Family Support Program at the Medical University of South Carolina.
