The 28th Annual Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival is this Sunday at Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park.
The event was first held in 1988 as a tribute to the local shrimping and fishing industry. As you probably know, the festival has grown quite a bit over the last 28 years.
This year, attendees can expect a boat parade, the ceremonial blessing of the fleet, seafood samples from local restaurants, live music, a craft show, an art exhibition, shag dancing, shrimp-eating contests, and more.
The year's charitable beneficiary is East Cooper Habitat for Humanity.
The festival starts at 11:30 am and goes until 6 pm. Parking and admission are both FREE. There are also free shuttle services available. Visit the official website for more information.
