Southern Roots Smokehouse on Friday officially opened at 1037 E Montague Ave in Park Circle. The new location has two brand new custom smokers, and will be serving the same wood-smoked BBQ as their West Ashley restaurant, but on a larger scale.
In addition to the BBQ, Southern Roots has also added five Southern entrees to the menu, including Shrimp & Grits, Fried Chicken, Brisket Meatloaf, Shrimp Platter, and Hot n’ Crispy Fried Pork Chops. You can see the full menu here.
“We are excited to open our new location, Southern Roots Smokehouse to Park Circle, and share our passion for slow smoked meat, and Southern cuisine with the community,” said Travis Glen. “Our goal is to create a space where families and friends can gather to enjoy great food, celebrate special occasions, and make lasting memories.”
The North Charleston location has a large outdoor space with a screened in patio, outdoor bar, ceiling fans, and TVs. The bar is stocked with several local beers on tap, and a specialty cocktail menu. The restaurant also included a large private party space, called the Edisto Room, which will be ready in the coming weeks, and available to be rented out for company parties, birthdays, and other celebratory events.
They will also host live music every Friday.
Southern Roots is locally owned and operated by Travis Glen, with Lucky 17 Restaurant Group, which also includes two Sportsbook locations (Tanger and Nexton), No Bull Burger Bar in West Ashley, and the first Southern Roots location.
