The 5th Street Group today announced that its newest restaurant concept, Tempest, will host its grand opening on Friday, August 14th. Located on Market Street next to the group's 5Church Charleston restaurant, Tempest will feature sustainable South Atlantic seafood, with a seasonal menu curated by Chef Partners Jamie Lynch and Adam Hodgson.
Chef Lynch, who appeared on Season 14 and All-Star Season 17 of Bravo’s Top Chef, along with Chef Hodgson have created a menu featuring a raw and charcoal roast section, as well as small bites and main courses.
“It is my opinion that the best seafood is almost always going to be the most local; this is where the beginnings of Tempest's culinary approach originated,” Chef Lynch said. “Our job is to highlight the pristine quality of the ingredients and treat them with respect in a way that will translate to our guests.”
Tempest's raw and roast menu will offer chilled and charcoal roasted options. Featuring local shrimp, littleneck clams, king crab legs, half lobster, and an array of oysters, both chilled and roasted preparations will be available on single, double, and triple seafood towers (aka the “Tempest Tower,” see below right).
“I'm most excited to work with our live fuel charcoal oven. This piece allows us to cook rapidly over high heat, while infusing the flavors of a crisp autumn night's oyster roast,” says Chef Hodgson. “There is a strong relationship between food and fire that we have the capability to offer year-round.”
