On Saturday, September 29th, John Lewis will host his 2nd annual Lewis Chile Roast at Lewis Barbecue in downtown Charleston. The event celebrates the pitmaster’s favorite ingredient, the Hatch green chile.
The party will feature fresh, roasted chiles for sale, a tasting tent with some of the Holy City's best chefs, live music, and more.
Attendees can sample a variety of dishes featuring the hatch chile prepared by chefs from Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit, Daps Breakfast & Imbibe, Home Team BBQ of Charleston, SC, Jack of Cups Saloon, Kwei Fei, Pink Cactus, Short Grain, Tavern & Table, Zia Green Chile Company, and Chefs Emily Hahn and Blair Machado.
Plus, Sparkys BBQ and Espresso will be flying in from Hatch, New Mexico to offer up their world famous chile cheese burgers to guests.
Revelry Brewing, Cathead Vodka and Cannonborough Beverage Co. will also be on site to serve an assortment of limited-edition chile beverages.
Lewis Barbecue will donate a portion of its proceeds from the day to Chef Jose Andres's non-profit, World Central Kitchen, which is currently providing hot meals to those effected by Hurricane Florence in NC, SC, and VA.
