Phase one of High Wire Distilling Co.’s 2020 holiday release will take place this Saturday, November 21st with the sale of their first batch of Peach Brandy.
Two years ago, the Charleston distillery partnered with Titan Farms in Ridge Spring, SC to create an historically accurate peach brandy by processing whole July Prince peaches including the fruit, skin, and roasted pit.
“Peach Brandy, known fondly as American Cognac, was readily produced in colonial America and was the original spirit used to make a Mint Julep,” High Wire Distilling said in an e-mail to their customers. “Given South Carolina’s history as the top producing peach state on the East Coast (sorry, Georgia!), this project was a perfect fit for us.”
The distillery says their Peach Brandy has been aged over 2 years in toasted French oak and has “a floral and fruity nose and boasts subtle peach notes with hints of dried apricot, pie spice, and peach cobbler.” The brandy is 88 proof, and the price of each bottle is $79.99.
Peach Brandy will be available in High Wire’s Tasting Room when they open for retail sales at 10 am Saturday morning at their new distillery at 311 Huger Street. At 11 am, they will email a link to their online store to make bottles available for purchase. All bottles purchased through this link are for pick-up only at the distillery. Given the current circumstances of social distancing, they strongly encourage you to purchase online.
All purchases made directly with High Wire are subject to a 3 bottle limit per person per day due to SC state law. Any online purchase totaling more than 3 bottles will be voided. Online purchases will be held for pick-up until March 31st, 2021 unless special arrangements are made. Items not picked up by that date will be re-stocked for sale. You must be 21 or over to place an order, and customers must present a valid ID at pick up.
For those of you outside the distribution network, Peach Brandy will be available for shipment through the following online retail partners: Astor Wines in NY, Potomac Wines in DC, and Bourbonr, all of whom will receive product in December. Shipping restrictions to various states may apply.
