Glazed Gourmet Doughnuts, the popular downtown bakery, today announced that after over a decade of serving the Charleston community, April 17th will be their last day of business.
The business explained their reasoning on social media, writing:
"In the nearly 13 years that Glazed has been opened, we’ve won dozens of awards, made thousands of doughnuts and made even more memories. Our customers have become our friends, and our employees have become our family.
But a business like this is a labor of love. If you lose that passion, it is difficult to continue. That passion was greatly diminished when the heart of Glazed, Allison (Smith), was taken from us cruelly and prematurely last year.
We have decided to close Glazed. Wednesday, April 17th will be our last day, while we still have echoes of that original love and passion left.
We are enormously proud of what we have accomplished. We are eternally grateful for the support that we have received locally, nationally, and internationally. We hope to see you for one last cup of coffee, one last purple goat, and one more great memory before we close.
With love,
The Glazed Family"
You can visit the bakery before they close at 654 King Street.
