For the first time in its 16 years of existence, Charleston Wine + Food is adding free programming to its extensive schedule of events. Plus, both offerings are open to all ages (ticketed Wine + Food events are 21 and over).
The free events start with Flick at Night – an outdoor movie at Hampton Park on Thursday, March 3rd at 5:30 pm. Guests will screen Hundred-Foot Journey (PG), receive complimentary popcorn and water, and can purchase food and beverages on site from local food trucks. Attendees can bring their own blankets and chairs.
The Pavilion will be a new addition to the Culinary Village, offering a non-ticketed gathering spot for people to sample dishes from multiple food trucks. The Pavilion will be located next to the Culinary Village at Riverfront Park (1061 Everglades Avenue, North Charleston). It will operate from Friday, March 4th through Sunday, March 6th from 11 am to 3 pm.
“We're so grateful to the community for supporting the festival for all these years,” said Gillian Zettler, Executive Director. “By programming opportunities for everybody to gather, we're hoping to create an even bigger platform for the community to enjoy the spirit of the festival.”
In addition to investing in free programming, the festival is increasing its financial support to the talent who make it a world-class event. That support includes travel stipends for all out-of-town talent, additional guest access to events, and fully complimentary ingredients.
