Charleston's newest sports pub, 1st Place, will host its grand opening event on the first day of the World Series, Tuesday, October 20th. The restaurant is located at 570 King Street next to its sister spots, Bourbon n' Bubbles and MESU.
Representatives from 1st Place say the bar will offer “an elevated sports pub atmosphere” with over 20 screens in the 70-seat space. Live music, “heightened” pub fare and local taps and cocktails will all be available starting at 7 pm.
“We have challenged ourselves to introduce a whole new sports pub experience with an emphasis on supporting the greater Charleston area's philanthropic organizations,” Lamar Bonaparte, co-partner of 1st Place, said.
Bonaparte, born and raised in Charleston, founded Republic Development and Management Group (RDMG) in 2012. He has partnered with David Aylor, founder and CEO of David Aylor Law Offices, on this project. To showcase their commitment to the community, 1st Place will donate 20% of proceeds from their opening party on October 20th to local non-profit, Going Places. (www.goingplacesnonprofit.org).
“We will be challenging ourselves to hold this type of philanthropic event each month,” Aylor said.
Executive Chef Matt Greene has developed a menu that will include sports pub staples such as chicken wings and cheese steaks, while also featuring daily specials.
“We will certainly satisfy your chicken wing and beer craving, but will also be offering local peel n' eat shrimp and sushi nights,” Greene said.
1st Place will be open 7 days a week. From Monday through Thursday, they’ll open their doors at 4 pm. They’ll open at 11 am from Friday to Sunday. For more information regarding private parties and booking for philanthropic events, contact Jen Toppe at Jtoppe@republic-dgm.com.
