The Green Heart Project, a local nonprofit that has established a network of educational school gardens and urban farms across Charleston, invites the community to its 12th Annual Harvest Dinner on Thursday, May 19th. The event runs from 5 pm to 8 pm at Mitchell Elementary School in downtown Charleston.
The 2022 Harvest Dinner is a springtime celebration of healthy food, outdoor education, and community. It brings together Green Heart students and supporters to enjoy a meal together, alongside their gardens.
This year, guests can look forward to BBQ by Jamie Westendorff, garden-fresh sides, and dessert prepared by chefs from Park & Grove, Calabria's Fine Foods, Basic Kitchen, and Taco Boy. Many dishes are also being created by the culinary talent from CCSD schools, including two high school culinary programs. Kid-friendly activities and entertainment will include: live music by 1ØØ Fold, bubbles, a bounce house, a goat petting zoo, a farmer's market stand featuring Green Heart grown produce, and more.
Tickets to the event are $20 for adults, $10 for students, free for children under 12, and can be purchased in advance. All proceeds benefit The Green Heart Project’s Farm to School programs. The ticket link and more information can be found on Green Heart's website at www.greenheartsc.org.
