Are you ready for the WORLD’S largest oyster festival? You better be, because it’s almost here!
The 30th Annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival is scheduled for Sunday, January 27th from 10:30 am until 5 pm at Boone Hall Plantation.
The event has previously been named one of the “top 20 events in the southeast” by the Southeastern Tourism Society and as an Oyster Fest veteran, I can vouch for its awesomeness. The lone complaint I have is how ridiculously crowded it is. Plan on getting there early and staking out a prime spot (lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged).
I also recommend paper towels, koozies, and “oyster tools” (glove, knife, condiments, etc.).
Highlights of the event, besides the 80,000 pounds of oysters, include the Oyster Shucking and Eating Contests, live music, wine and beer selections, a children’s area and local food vendors.
The festival will benefit The Ronald McDonald House, Hospitality Heroes, MUSC’s Hollings Cancer Center, Shriners Hospitals for Children and Charleston County Schools Science Materials Resource Center.
Ticket information will be announced soon. Check back for updates
