National Walking Day with the Charleston American Heart Association
Various Charleston, South Carolina
Since our beginnings, the American Heart Association has been a champion for physical activity in communities across the country. That’s why we created National Walking Day, the first Wednesday in April, more than a decade ago. A simple walk is one of the best ways to manage stress and improve heart health. In honor of the organization’s Centennial year, join Charleston American Heart Association for a walk to reduce stress and take steps toward a longer, healthier life.
WHO: Everyone
WHEN: April 3 – any time!
WHERE: Anywhere you are! Share photos and videos of your walk at

WHY: Physical activity is one of the best ways to improve overall health and manage stress, yet 1 in 4 U.S. adults are sedentary for more than eight hours each day, which can have negative consequences on physical and mental health. The American Heart Association, the nation’s oldest and largest organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke, established National Walking Day to encourage people to move more throughout their day.
