Artist Pakan Penn is returning for yet another amazing show at Mary Martin Gallery in Charleston. Penn has received incredible recognition throughout his career as an artist, including winning the title of “Best Animal and Landscape Impressionist” two years in a row, juried by America's Top 25 US Galleries.
The signature piece in Pakan Penn's October show at Mary Martin Galleries is appropriately titled “Bursting Blooms” for its flourishing bouquet of wildflowers and symphony of color. It is 36” x 36”, oil on canvas, completed with both palette knife and brushwork. His signature technique includes experimenting with an array of colors, interplayed with sunlight and shadows using the palette knife and brush, which in turn produces vibrancy and motion across his paintings that all together creates a stunning three-dimensional effect.
Pakan Penn, a Cambodian-born resident of the Washington, D.C. area, is an oil painter of many talents. From a young child moving to a foreign United States and not knowing the language, to an internationally celebrated artist with works having displayed in the White House, Penn's artwork cultivates a sense of emotion in every viewer and is shaped by his unique life story.
Penn's paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally. Many U.S. Embassies display his artwork, such as The U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg, The U.S. Embassy in Mauritius; as Penn is a popular artist in the Art in Embassies program.
“BURSTING BLOOMS” will be on exhibit throughout the month of October. The artist will be at the opening reception to meet the public. In addition, you are invited to view him painting his latest works in the main lobby of the Andell Inn on Kiawah Island October 4th – October 9th.
