Charleston Jazz invites you to soak in the good vibes of the highly anticipated 2024 Charleston Jazz Gala on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the historic American Theater. This annual benefit supports the performance, education, and outreach programs of Charleston Jazz, celebrating its commitment to preserving and expanding the vibrant jazz tradition in the Lowcountry.
The Charleston Jazz Gala will include the sounds of renowned jazz vibraphonist and four-time Grammy Award nominee, Stefon Harris. Harris, a celebrated recording artist with Blue Note Records, will perform an intimate concert accompanied by members of the Charleston Jazz Orchestra with appearances by talented students from the Charleston Jazz Academy.
The 1940s-era American Theater is located on the very street where the legendary Jenkins Orphanage developed some of the world’s finest jazz musicians.
Festivities are accompanied by an open bar, dinner, a live auction, a paddle raise, and the presentation of the Tip of the Hat Award to local legend George Kenny.
