The Taylor Festival Choir will host two Christmas events this holiday season. Both events will be held at the Circular Congregational Church at 150 Meeting Street.
On Dec. 14 at 7 pm, the Taylor Festival Choir is joined by world-renowned Uillean Piper Ivan Goff and the Palmetto Youth Choir for their annual Celtic and Classical Christmas concert. Intriguing new repertoire will be featured alongside plenty of Holiday classics in this popular Christmas event.
On Dec. 16 at 7pm, the Taylor Festival Choir presents its inaugural Yuletide Madrigal Feast. This is the cherished Charleston tradition Rob Taylor produced at the College of Charleston for twenty-four years–but now performed by the professional singers that comprise the Taylor Festival Choir.
“Christmas is our favorite time of the year! And Charleston is such the perfect city to produce these two wonderful events," said Taylor. "The Yuletide Madrigal Feast is something I have missed terribly since I retired from the College of Charleston in 2022. There is nothing quite like it: ancient English carols sung by candlelight, hilarious toasts, a multi-course meal with wassail and wine, and our singers in Renaissance costume! Meanwhile, the Celtic and Classical Christmas concert holds an equally warm place in my heart. Classical and Celtic music reside side-by-side in my household, and creating a Holiday concert concept incorporating both has been a labor of love for many years now. We are thrilled to partner with the terrific Palmetto Youth Choir, led by my friend Danielle Loveless. And our guest star is simply a star on the world stage. Ivan Goff and his lyrical playing on the Uilleann Pipes is worth the price of admission alone!"
