State Rep. Wendell Gilliard on Wednesday ran into legendary comedian and South Carolina native Chris Rock at Saffron Restaurant and Bakery on East Bay Street. Rep. Gilliard shared some pictures of the encounter on social media.
Rock is widely regarded as one of the greatest standup comics of all time after decades of success and critical acclaim. He is known for the popular stand-up specials like “Bring the Pain,” “Bigger & Blacker,” “Never Scared,” “Kill the Messenger,” and “Chris Rock: Tambourine.” Rock has earned several awards including three Grammys and four Emmys.
Rep. Gilliard represents South Carolina's 111th District (parts of Charleston County).
