“Raise De Roof,” a Gospel Music Festival and Gumbo Cooking Competition benefiting Operation Home will be held at Joseph P. Riley Park on Sunday, July 13th.
Gates for the event will open at 3 pm, while the Gospel Choirs start singing at 4 pm. The gumbo judging starts at 6 pm, but if gumbo isn’t up your alley, there will be a picnic dinner available from 5 pm until 7 pm. The dinner includes pan-fried chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, fruit, brownies and sweet tea. A children’s plate and general concessions will also be available.
The event benefits Operation Home, an organization that helps people stay in their homes by “increasing safety and accessibility through the coordination of critical home repairs for low-income residents of Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester Counties.” You can find more information about the “Raise De Roof” and Operation Home here.
Tickets, which start at $10, can be purchased here.
