Over the last few years, a wide variety of television shows and movies have filmed in Charleston, but recent productions like The Sinner, Mr. Mercedes, and South of Hell, have transformed the Holy City into something of a hub for the horror genre. That trend will reportedly continue as a remake of the classic film Halloween is set to begin production in the Charleston area in the coming weeks.
As the good people at the Charleston City Paper posted earlier, writer and director David Gordon Green told Filmmaker Magazine that production on the new Halloween film will begin in the Holy City in six weeks. Green co-wrote the script with actor Danny McBride. The pair have previously worked together on the movie Pineapple Express and the TV shows Eastbound & Down and Vice Principals – the latter of which was also filmed in the Charleston area.
Fans of the classic film will be happy to know that Jamie Lee Curtis will reprise her role as Laurie Strode, while original director John Carpenter will serve as an executive producer on the remake.
According to IMDb, the film is scheduled to be released on October 19th, 2018.
