The Charleston Museum, founded in 1773 and considered America's first museum, invites guests to learn more about the natural and cultural history of the South Carolina Lowcountry by visiting its collections and exhibitions this Presidents’ Day Weekend.
The Museum will be open during its normal operating hours all weekend long, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy a variety of exhibits, including the recently unveiled The Art of Abstraction: Modernism in Quilting. The exhibit is a collaboration with the Gibbes Museum of Art and showcases the artistic beauty of abstract artwork alongside the Museum’s quilts.
The Museum’s Historic Houses will also be open during their normal operating hours from 10 am to 5 pm, with the last guided tour beginning at 4:15 pm at the Heyward-Washington House and 4:30 pm. at the Joseph Manigault House.
