Footlight Players never skimps on the holiday fun, and this season is no exception as Charleston's longest running theatre company brings back the wildly popular adults only, one-woman show Who's Holiday for its third and final year at the Queen Street Playhouse. Adding to line up is the first season for the stage version of the beloved 1983 holiday film classic A Christmas Story set to open on Friday, Dec. 6th at the Queen Street Playhouse.
Returning for a third and final year will be Giuila Dalbec in her now iconic role as an adult Cindy Lou Who, the beloved character from How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Cindy Lou is now a chain-smoking forty year old alcoholic living in a trailer on Mt. Crumpet, and many years have passed since she caught the Grinch in her living room. In this raunchy and hilarious one-woman show, Cindy spills all the tea on what really happened on that fateful night. This hour long comic tour-de-force is definitely not for the kiddos! (Shows Dec. 12 - 22).
For more family-friendly and nostalgic holiday fare, audiences can cozy up to the stage version of the beloved 1983 holiday classic A Christmas Story. The popular tale follows 9-year old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. All the elements from the beloved motion picture are there, including the family's temperamental exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys' experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost and of course Ralphie's father winning a lamp shaped like a woman's leg. (Shows Dec. 6 - 22).
Both shows will run at the Queen Street Playhouse through Dec. 22, sometimes performing back to back. For tickets and more information about any of the theatre's holiday shows visit footlightplayers.net or call 843.722.4487.
