From Saturday, August 29th through Monday, August 31st, The Charleston Friends of the Library will host its Main Library Book Sale to raise funds for the Charleston County Public Library. Admission is free.
The event was originally scheduled to be held in June, but was postponed in the wake of the shooting at the Mother Emanuel AME Church. One of those killed in the attack was the Charleston County librarian Cynthia Hurd, who worked there for 31 years.
The rescheduled book sale will be used to raise money for the Charleston County Public Library System, and help continue the legacy that Cynthia Hurd left behind. This year’s schedule is as follows:
The event will feature over 10,000 items, including fiction, non-fiction, and children's books, CDs, DVDs, and more. Cash, checks, or credit cards are all accepted.
The main library is located at 68 Calhoun Street.
