Fresh off their win as Charleston’s Choice Best Band of 2024, local duo Southbound 17 has released their newest EP, Southern Gothic.
This album represents some firsts for members Jack Austen and Katie Bailey. After 10 years as a band, this is their first full release as a duo. Southern Gothic is also the band’s first collaboration with Nashville producer Zachary Manno (Lady A, BRELAND, Haley Mae Campbell).
“The ideas for this project have been kicking around for years,” Austen said. “We had the idea for the name Southern Gothic and we knew what we wanted it to look like and to sound like. Working with Zach was a completely different experience than we had ever had before when we recorded music. He approached everything track by track and every decision was intentional. That’s how we were able to capture the sound that we had been wanting for so long.”
Southern Gothic is available to stream now on all major platforms. You can listen to the EP on Spotify now.
Southbound 17 will kick off 2025 with a show at the Beaufort Oyster Festival on January 18th. The band’s full calendar is available on their website southbound17music.com
