The Charleston Climate Coalition and the Sustainable Ocean Alliance Charleston are partnering to host the Tour de Earth Day 2022 on Saturday, April 23rd in downtown Charleston. Participants will ride bikes around the peninsula as they learn about current environmental issues and opportunities for change.
“With Tour de Earth Day, we're looking to bring folks together to celebrate the Earth and learn more about our rich environmental community in the Lowcountry,” said Belvin Olasov, co-director of the Charleston Climate Coalition. “We will turn a critical eye to where environmental justice issues remain and share information about environmental success stories.”
Riders can expect educational talks, firsthand looks at urban greenspace, art, and activities as they make their way around the peninsula's green spaces. Food and drinks will be provided along the way.
Individuals should bring their own bikes and are encouraged to decorate them in the theme of Earth Day. There will be a costume contest with eco-friendly prizes at the final stop of the tour at Corinne Jones Park.
