Press Release
Contemporary impressionist artist Kyle Stuckey will present a special exhibition at Principle Gallery in Charleston. This new painting collection is a solo show and will be on exhibit from May 6th to 31st, 2022.
For Stuckey, the new works of over 25 paintings depicts a variety of portraits, cityscapes, and a selection of paintings from his beautiful tonal series. He says that it is his responsibility as an observer/artist to represent the effects that light has on each individual subject, and capture his interpretation and reaction to an individual moment in time. “I paint in the way I see my subject matter, trying to mimic the way the human eye sees,” Stucky said. “Not everything is in focus at one time. Regardless of what my subject matter may be, in my paintings I focus on what I find inspiring in that subject. This way the viewer can see my vision and perhaps share in that experience. At the same time, I want my paintings to have visual variety in detail and texture by using the full potential of the oils with the variations of texture and transparency.”
About Kyle Stuckey
Kyle Stuckey began studying art during his high school years through private instruction from Lori Woodward Simons and various workshops. He later became a member of the Putney Painters where he was able to continue to hone his skills on the presence of some of the greatest artists today, including Richard Schmid and Nancy Guzik.
Stuckey's work is strongly influenced by his study of historical artists such as: John William Waterhouse, Anders Zorn, John Singer Sargent, Lawrence AlmaTadema, and William Bouguereau. He has also extensively traveled through Vietnam, Mexico, Japan, Nicaragua, he lived in Costa Rica for eight months, and two months in Rome with the opportunity to explore a variety of places in Italy.
