Press Release
Tis' the season to sing Holiday tunes and find opportunities to give back. So as any Philadelphia Eagles fan may have heard, there is a limited edition Christmas record coming out this year featuring many current football players singing Holiday classics to help raise money for the Children's Crisis Treatment Center in Philadelphia. All proceeds will be donated to the hospital. Connor Barwin, a former Eagles linebacker, and current Director of Player Development for the organization, put together this compilation record, called A Philly Special Christmas.
When the group was looking for a team to produce the vinyl records for the project, they found it not in the traditional manufacturing places in New York or Los Angeles, but right here in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Mike Gomez, of both Record Stop and Monostereo Vinyl on John Street, got the call from Barwin asking if there was a way to get the record created in time for the holidays.
“Right now, with some of the supply chain issues we’ve seen in the world, vinyl is taking anywhere from 6 to 12 months to be produced, so I get why they ran into issues,” said Gomez. “However, we were able to pull a few strings and made it happen. It’s going to be ready to ship the week of November 21st, so whatever magic they have in Philly this year, it’s definitely working. We worked with Connor’s team to get it ready, but it won’t be found at any record store, you have to get it online at phillyspecialchristmas.com – and we expect it to sell out of the limited edition pressing very quickly.”
The “Philly Special Christmas” album was created by the league-leading NFL players Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson, and Jordan Mailata and features many Eagles’ players, as a way to raise money for the Children's Crisis Treatment Center in Philadelphia. All proceeds will be donated to the hospital. Sign up here to be notified when the record is ready to order: https://
