The 10th Annual FollyGras Parade & Street Festival is Saturday, February 25th out on The Edge of America. The event will once again showcase the town’s take on Mardi Gras.
As always, the event is family-friendly and free to attend. In addition to the parade, this year’s festival will also include a children’s pet parade, kids activities, a mechanical shark, a bungee trampoline, and more local food and art vendors than years past.
Anyone wanting to have an adult beverage during the event will need to purchase a wristband at one of onsite for $3. Proceeds from wristband sales will benefit the following Folly Beach-based charities and nonprofits: Folly Beach Exchange Club, Folly Anglers, Surfers Healing, Warrior Surf Foundation, Begin with Books, and the Folly Angels . Those drinking inside the parade route or festival perimeter without a wristband are subject to an open container citation and a fine.
Center Street will be closed at 10 a.m. Any cars left on Center Street overnight or that morning are subject to towing. Parade lineup will start at 10:30 am on 1st and 2nd Blocks of W. Arctic Ave. The parade will begin as close to noon as possible, with the street festival immediately following.
A kids activities area will be set up in the Dunes Properties parking lot. Local artisans and retailers will be set up on the street between Hudson and Huron Avenues. Center Street restaurants will be serving Cajun or Creole off-menu items in front of their respective businesses.
