Roof Gnome released a report on 2023's Best Cities for Rooftop Dining and they ranked Charleston as being the 11th best in the country. In July, the company ranked Charleston as 20th best city in the country for rooftop drinking.
To come up with their rankings, the company compared over 360 of the biggest U.S. cities based on three categories. They considered the number of rooftop restaurants and consumer ratings and also factoring in the most friendly climates for outdoor dining — such as high rates of sunshine — among nine total metrics.

- Diversity of Choices (More Than 5 Rooftop Restaurants) – 1st
- Number of Top-Rated Rooftop Restaurants (4.5+ Stars and 10+ Reviews) – 11th
