Hatched, the Atlanta-founded, free dating app, is officially launching in Charleston on September 25th. The company says their app aims to redefine the swipe by making it less “show me” and more “know me.”
Founded and originally launched in Atlanta late last year, the southern startup says they are “changing the digital dating game by diving deeper into values, attitudes, personality, and interests (vs. simply appearance) to discover meaningful matches.” Once launched, it will be available for Charlestonians to download on all major app stores.
The brainchild of three emerging Atlanta entrepreneurs, co-founders Mitchell Alterman, Sam Lukens, and Reeves Kissel, and backed by notable investors including an Atlanta Hawks executive, Hatched is a dating app that emphasizes character similarities, not pictures. Profiles are depicted by an egg still covered by its shell – encouraging users to start meeting others through commonalities and getting to know one another for their personalities. Each time a similarity strikes, a piece of the shell cracks off – ultimately unveiling the photo of, at that point, a person you've connected with over interests and character traits, as opposed to physical attraction.
