Press Release
Get ready for a paws-itively good time with Charleston County Parks' annual Dog Day Afternoons! These events offer the opportunity for canines to enjoy the waterparks, and take place after the waterparks have closed for the season.
On September 9th, Dog Day Afternoon will be held at both James Island County Park's Splash Zone Waterpark and Palmetto Islands County Park's Splash Island Waterpark in Mount Pleasant. Whirlin' Waters Adventure Waterpark in North Charleston will host the event on September 10th. There are two sessions at each park, one from 10 am to noon and the other from 1 pm to 3 pm.
Each ticket is $15 per dog in advance and $20 at the gate if tickets are still available. Owners are free with their dogs. Tickets are expected to sell out so it is strongly encouraged that you purchase your ticket before the event.
Swimming is only allowed for dogs and no humans should enter the water above their knees. All dogs must be up to date on their vaccinations and no puppies under six months old or in-season females are allowed at this event.
Please walk your dog prior to entering the park to help them relieve themselves before going into the water. While dogs are allowed off their leash once they have entered the park, please keep them under control and be mindful of where they are at all times.
Please don't trim your dog's nails before the event as they will be running on concrete which causes their nails to wear down quickly.
No outside food or drinks are allowed in the pool area for humans or dogs. However, there will be limited concessions for humans at each of the parks as well as fresh water provided for dogs throughout the event.
Tickets can be purchased through the Charleston County Parks website, CharlestonCountyParks.com under the Dog Day Afternoon page.
