Dogtopia of Summerville, a dog daycare, overnight, and spa facility set to open this July, will host Pancakes for a Purpose on Friday, June 23rd, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Eggs Up Grill Cane Bay. Ticket sales, proceeds, and donations from this event will benefit the Dogtopia Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps sponsor service dogs for military veterans. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased by emailing summerville@dogtopia.com.
“With 52% of veterans dealing with PTSD and 6 in 10 reporting depression, loneliness, or anxiety, a service dog can be lifesaving,” said Jackie Cotone, Co-Owner of Dogtopia of Summerville. “We feel honored for the opportunity to support the veterans in our community who have given so much to our country.”
Pancakes for a Purpose comes just before the grand opening of Dogtopia of Summerville, which will take place next month. Offering daycare, overnight, and spa services for Lowcountry dogs, Dogtopia cares for every pup as if they were their own and emphasizes the importance of regular socialization and exercise, which they say helps these furry family members thrive and live longer, healthier, and happier lives.
The Dogtopia Foundation, the company's charitable arm, supports the training of service dogs for veterans who have returned home with physical and emotional challenges. The training for service dogs for veterans can cost upwards of $30,000, and Dogtopia and the Dogtopia Foundation are committed to providing monetary support for veterans and their families who greatly benefit from these service animals. The cost of the animals, coupled with the great need for service dogs in the community, has encouraged Dogtopia and the Dogtopia Foundation to take action to support those who have supported this country.
