Personal finance website WalletHub on Monday released a report on “2023's Best & Worst Places to Start a Career,” and Charleston ranked as being the 6th best.
To help recent graduates launch their careers in the right place, WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities based on 26 key indicators of career-friendliness. The data set ranges from the availability of entry-level jobs to monthly average starting salary to housing affordability.
Starting Your Career in Charleston (1=Best; 91=Avg.):
- 44th – Projected Population Growth (2046 vs. 2016)
- 67th – Monthly Avg. Starting Salary (Adjusted for Cost of Living)
- 13th – Entry-Level Jobs per 100,000 Working-Age Population
- 76th – Annual Job Growth Rate (Adjusted for Population Growth)
- 1st – Unemployment Rate
- 14th – % of Adults Aged 25 & Older with at Least a Bachelor's Degree
