Dr. Annie Andrews, former Democratic nominee in South Carolina's First Congressional District, today announced the launch of a new organization, Their Future. Our Vote., which she says will bring attention to the most urgent issues facing America's children and advocate for policies that prioritize their needs and well-being. These issues include climate action, quality education, accessible healthcare, sensible gun legislation, reducing child hunger and poverty, and strengthening democracy by protecting voting rights.
Dr. Andrews said our children's health and safety should not a partisan issue and everything must be done to ensure they have the resources and support they need to succeed.
“Instead of playing politics with our kids, it's time to get political for our kids,” Dr. Andrews said. “America's children deserve a better future. There's no one better to build that future, their future, than us.”
Dr. Andrews' former campaign finance director Renee Harvey joins Their Future. Our Vote. as Co-Founder and Executive Director.
Based in South Carolina, Their Future. Our Vote. says they will build partnerships and coalitions across the country to advance its mission. The organization will engage in advocacy, education, and community outreach efforts to raise awareness about the issues affecting children and to promote policies that support their well-being.
Their Future. Our Vote. will also have an affiliated political action committee called Their Future PAC.
Multiple politicians and activists praised the organization’s launch:
- “I’m proud and honored to support Their Future. Our Vote. and the incredibly important work Dr. Andrews is doing to build a safer and brighter future for our children,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action. “As a mother, a pediatrician, a gun violence prevention advocate with Moms Demand Action, and a former candidate for Congress, she knows what’s broken in our politics, and more importantly, what it will take to finally create public policy that meets the moment. I trust Dr. Andrews implicitly to hold our elected officials' feet to the fire to protect kids in America.”“Dr. Annie Andrews is the real deal,” said Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-14). “She knows all too well the challenges our kids face from gun violence, climate inaction, childhood hunger, and beyond. Congress can and must do more to prioritize policies that benefit children, and Dr. Andrews and Their Future. Our Vote. are laser focused on making that happen.”
- “Dr. Andrews knows firsthand that our top priority must be securing a safe, healthy future for our kids,” said gun violence prevention advocate Fred Guttenberg. “Our elected officials need to understand that the policies they legislate on directly impact our children's safety and futures. I’m thrilled Dr. Andrews is taking this fight to Washington.”
- “Their Future. Our Vote. will be a tremendous asset in the fight to build a brighter future for our children,” said political analyst Bakari Sellers. “Every parent knows what it’s like to fear for their kids’ safety, while seeing year after year of inaction from Washington. We have to hold our leaders accountable, and I’m glad Dr. Annie Andrews is in our corner in this fight.”
- “Like Dr. Andrews, I have spent my career caring for hospitalized children,” said Pediatric Critical Care Physician and President of the SC Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics Dr. Elizabeth Mack. “While we have the skills and tools to help individual patients, the systemic barriers our patients face are oftentimes insurmountable. Federal policies are failing our children because our lawmakers are not prioritizing their needs. We need a game changer in Washington for children, and Dr. Andrews and Their Future. Our Vote. is exactly what we have been waiting for.”
