Rep. Nancy Mace today released the following statement on the reintroduction of her Standing with Mom’s Act (more details on the legislation below):
“It's important we provide women with the family planning resources they need to carry a healthy baby to term and succeed as new mothers. The Standing with Moms Act will create a website called life.gov. This site will serve as a resource portal providing pregnant women in every state access to the most comprehensive network of resources available at the federal, state, and local level as well as in the private sector. We're partnering with Senator Marco Rubio who is introducing the Senate companion to ensure expecting mothers are supported across the country.”
Senator Rubio shared the following statement on the proposed legislation:
“Pregnant and newly parenting mothers should not be left in the dark, nor should they be pushed toward abortion. Instead, they should have easy access to the resources they need to look after their babies. This bill would help make that a reality.”
Rep. Mace’s office says The Standing with Mom's Act is the “first in a series of bills introduced to support women.” The legislation directs the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to create and maintain a family planning website called life.gov to give pregnant people in every state access to a comprehensive network of family planning resources tailored to their specific needs in these areas:
- Education
- Healthcare
- Childcare
- Mental health
- Legal support
- Financial assistance
- Prenatal care
This bill also updates HHS's Maternal Mental Healthcare hotline to ensure pregnant people have access to around the clock assistance to help navigate these resources.
Rep. Mace’s office says the legislation is endorsed by National Right to Life, Concerned Women for America, Abortion Survivor's Network, Americans United for Life, and March for Life.
