Pick Me! SC, a ten-day event where dozens of shelters, rescue organizations, and Petco locations around South Carolina join forces for the largest statewide adoption event of its kind in the entire country. The initiative began today and runs through July 17th.
The event is organized by No Kill South Carolina 2024, an initiative of Charleston Animal Society. The goal is to save 1,500 lives through adoptions. Most shelters and adoption centers are offering “no-fee” or “low-fee” adoptions as part of this lifesaving event.
“We love scheduling this in the summer because that is traditionally the most difficult time of year for animal shelters and rescue organizations,” said the Chief Project Officer of No Kill South Carolina 2024 Abigail Appleton, PMP, CAWA. “Shelters are packed with friendly pets waiting to join your families. Let’s give them the loving homes they deserve.”
Petco stores will host shelters and rescue organizations to reach even more potential adopters. Almost every Petco location across South Carolina is participating, but be sure to contact your area store for more information.
If you are adopting, remember to bring a leash for dogs or a carrier for cats. Some of the locations may have these items for sale but be sure to check in advance.
