The national political organization Elect Black Women PAC today announced their endorsement of Michelle Brandt's candidacy for South Carolina House District 114.
“Elect Black Women PAC is proud to endorse Michelle Brandt as the next State Representative for District 114 in South Carolina,” said Ruby Powell-Dennis, Executive Director of Elect Black Women PAC. “Michelle is the type of transformational leader our communities deserve and demand. Michelle is a wife, mother and woman of faith who works to earn your respect. We are proud she has stepped up to run for office. That's exactly the type of leadership and political courage we need to make sure our state leadership is advancing legislation that works for everyone.”
Elect Black Women PAC was founded in 2020 with the sole purpose of electing Black women at every level of government. Elect Black Women PAC says they are committed to changing that narrative that Black women aren't electable with a focus on helping Black women running in down ballot races in southern states. They assist by providing increased amplification, connection, and encouragement to their endorsed candidates.
“I proudly accept this endorsement from Elect Black Women PAC and wholeheartedly believe in their mission,” Brandt said. “In South Carolina, Black women makeup 13% of our state but only equal 9% of the State House and 4% of the State Senate. Better decisions are made when diverse voices are at the table, and I believe that it is imperative to have more Black women in positions of power in South Carolina and around the country.”
Brandt has also been endorsed by Run for Something, a movement dedicated to recruiting and supporting progressive candidates aged 40-and-under across the United States.
