Personal finance website WalletHub on Tuesday released a report on “2022’s Best College Towns & Cities in America” and Charleston ranked as being the 10th best (37th overall).
To help college-bound high school seniors determine their future home for the next several years, WalletHub compared more than 400 U.S. cities – also grouped by city size – based on 30 key indicators of academic, social and economic growth potential. The data set ranges from the cost of living to the quality of higher education to the crime rate.
Student-Friendliness of Charleston (1=Best; 208=Avg.):
- 162nd – Quality of Higher Education
- 158th – Cost of Higher Education
- 58th – Brain Drain
- 169th – City Accessibility
- 193rd – Crime Rate
- 143rd – Students per Capita
- 55th – Unemployment Rate
