Previously announced, all-day brunch restaurant Ruby Sunshine today announced that they will open for business at 171 E Bay Street (the former home of Blossom) this December. The restaurant will be the first of two Ruby Sunshine locations to open in Charleston.
Ruby Sunshine is the latest concept from Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group, the hospitality group behind acclaimed New Orleans-based eatery Ruby Slipper Café. The second Charleston restaurant location, opening in 2022, will be located on Savannah Highway in West Ashley's Avondale neighborhood.
The team behind the restaurants says each will offer New Orleans-inspired twists on traditional Southern brunch favorites, including Eggs Benedicts, Beignets, Bananas Foster Pain Perdu and seasonally stuffed French Toast, as well as cocktails. You can see a sample menu here.
“As one of the most respected culinary communities in the Southeast, it’s been a longtime dream of ours to bring Ruby Sunshine to Charleston and weave our unique New Orleans flair into the fabric of this historic city,” said Peter Gaudreau, CEO of Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group. “We can’t wait to open our doors in December and are especially excited to partner with other Charleston businesses and organizations both with this downtown location, and in the future as we expand our footprint in 2022.”
To kick off National Giving Month, Ruby Sunshine will host a fundraising event on December 8th from 5 pm to 7 pm in partnership with the Lowcountry Food Bank, an organization which strives to fight hunger throughout 10 coastal counties of South Carolina. The event will include a live band, a selfie station, and door prizes. Plus, one lucky guest will win brunch for a year. Following the event and running through the holiday season, Ruby Sunshine will donate $1 per Hot Honey Ham & Greens Benedict sold to the Lowcountry Food Bank.
In addition to welcoming guests, Ruby Sunshine is offering job opportunities, which can be found on the Ruby Sunshine website: rubysunshine.com/careers/.
