Returning for its fourth year, the popular Lewis Chile Roast will take place on-site at Lewis Barbecue (464 N. Nassau St.) on Sunday, October 10 from 1 pm to 4 pm, offering fresh, roasted chiles, New Mexican-inspired bites, live music, and more.
Join pitmaster John Lewis for a celebration of his favorite ingredient, the Hatch green chile, brought in by the truck-load straight from Hatch, New Mexico. The big bash features fresh, roasted chiles for sale, a tasting tent with some of Charleston’s best chefs, live music from Solid Country Gold, and plenty of cold beverages.
Chile lovers can pre-order roasted chiles on Lewis’ online store and pick up the product at the event or purchase on-site. Special Hatch chile merch and products will be available exclusively at the festival.
Restaurants participating include Berkeley’s, Bessinger’s BBQ, Chasing Sage, Chubby Fish, Daps Breakfast & Imbibe, Delaney Oyster House, Edmund’s Oast, Jack of Cups Saloon, Kwei Fei, Post House, Renzo, Swig + Swine, Tavern & Table, and Zia Green Chile Company. Lewis’ forthcoming border food restaurant and bar, Rancho Lewis, will also make an appearance, serving their signature margaritas.
The event is free and open to the public. Chiles can be preordered at https://shop.lewisbarbecue.com.
