Firefly Distillery, South Carolina's oldest working distillery, last week announced a new summer concert series, “Safe Sounds at Firefly,” being held in partnership with Ear For Music and Charleston City Paper. The seven week-long outdoor summer concert series kicks off on June 12th.
Each Friday and Saturday from 7 pm to 10 pm, guests can enjoy a concert from the fields of the new Firefly Distillery in North Charleston to allow for safe social distancing. The 21-and-over ticketed event will begin Friday, June 12th, with doors opening at 6 pm and a limited capacity of just 500. Tickets can be purchased online. Each concert will feature live music performances, Firefly cocktails, and local food trucks. Emceed by DJ Natty Heavy, the series will feature the following lineup:
“Our community comes first to us here at Firefly and we thought this would offer a great way for people to get outside safely and come together as a community over a shared love of music,” Scott Newitt, co-owner of Firefly Distillery, said. “We're lucky to have plenty of space, so even by limiting the concerts to 10 percent of our field capacity, we can still host 500 guests.”
In order to maintain social distancing, the distillery said concert tickets can only be purchased in groups of four. The four pack of tickets will secure a spot in a ten by ten square, separated from one another on all sides by an eight foot distance. Guests are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs to enjoy the concert, but will need to leave dogs, children, and outside food and drink at home. Firefly said they are also taking extra precautions to keep the community healthy by:
- Requiring all staff and vendors to wear masks
- Offering hand sanitizer to guests throughout the distillery grounds
- Providing extra restrooms with sanitation attendant for the concert series
- Providing extra security for the concert series to enforce social distancing
- Spacing picnic tables and concert series squares 8 feet apart
- Providing a safe and welcoming environment for all
