Blade and Bull Axe Throwing will host its grand opening on Saturday, May 18th in Park Circle. The event begins at noon with a ribbon cutting ceremony lead by North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey.
The new venue comes from the same company that has been operating mobile axe-throwing events around town for the past 10 months. The front of the facility features a bar, while the back area, dubbed “The Ax Hole,” includes 2,100 sq. ft. and twelve wooden axe throwing targets.
In the bar area, patrons can try some mead or wine from a Viking-style drinking horn, or a tankard of craft beer.
Owner Ian Smith said in a press release that staff will “demonstrate this new sport that is taking the nation by storm, and do our best to dispel any negative safety-related stigma associated with the sport of axe throwing.”
Coaches will provide instructions and maintain safety standards. After your group has gotten the hang of chucking axes, they will teach you how to play, keep score, and compete in an axe throwing game.
