Downtown restaurant Kitchen 208 on Friday announced that they were shuttering as of that day. In a statement posted on Facebook, the cafe said Charleston’s “difficult labor force environment” was the reason they had to close.
The full statement read:
“ After much thoughtful consideration, we regretfully announce the closing of Kitchen 208 restaurant effective 3/29/19. Our decision is based upon the very difficult labor force environment in the Charleston area, specifically qualified restaurant staff. We would like to thank all of our current and past employees for their hard work as well as our loyal customers for their patronage. ”
Owner Linn Lesesne provided even more details about the closure to The Post & Courier’s Hanna Raskin. You can read what she said here.
Kitchen 208 opened in 2013 and was located at 208 King Street. The cafe was featured in 2017 on a episode of The Food Network’s Ginormous Food series.
