College of Charleston freshman guard Taryn Barbot has been named the CAA Rookie of the Week after a pair of double-digit scoring performances on the road.
Barbot paced Charleston with 20.5 points per game in a weekend split for the Cougars. On Friday, the freshman tallied 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting with six rebounds, one assist and one steal in an 86-57 victory over Hampton. On Sunday, Barbot scored a game-high 22 points, adding three rebounds, two assists and one steal despite a narrow setback to Towson on the road. The freshman, who leads the CAA in scoring at 17.1 points per game, has reached double figures in 13 straight games and has 20 or more seven times this winter.
This marks Barbot's sixth Rookie of the Week honor.
The Cougars will return home on Friday to host North Carolina A&T at 7 pm.
