Summit Coffee announced an expansion to the Charleston market. Summit, which has 13 cafes open around the Southeast, will add three Charleston-area cafes to their roster in 2024. The coffee roasters serve organic coffees, including a rotating selection of seasonal blends, and fresh pastries. Two cafes will open in Mt. Pleasant and another in Summerville.
Summit Coffee was founded in 1998 in Davidson, NC, and gained popularity for its sustainable approach to coffee. Summit Coffee is a longtime member of 1% of the Planet and Certified Climate Neutral. They also offer sustainability initiatives and programming in their cafes that will help minimize their impact on the environment.
“The ethos of Summit Coffee is centered around providing coffee and community to the surrounding neighborhoods, and Charleston is a perfect place for those values,” said Summit Coffee CEO Brian Helfrich. “We’re looking forward to meeting our new neighbors in each community and providing a welcoming space for quality coffee and fresh pastries.”
Summit Coffee plans to open the first cafe on Belle Station Road in Mt. Pleasant this spring. In addition to the cafe, this location will also house Summit’s bakery, which will supply pastries and other food items to the area cafes. A second Mt. Pleasant and a Nexton location will follow. More information is forthcoming.
