Home Team BBQ and Commonhouse Aleworks have teamed up to brew a limited release ale that's inspired by Home Team’s popular “Gamechanger” cocktail. The beer will benefit Home Team’s annual Rock the Block fundraiser.
The special release cream ale “Changegamer” will be available on draft at Charleston-area Home Team restaurants and the Commonhouse Aleworks flagship brewery in Park Circle. Home Team’s annual Rock the Block fundraiser will be hosted at their Downtown Charleston location benefiting Hogs for the Cause foundation and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston.
“One of the things that drew us to Commonhouse and made this partnership such a natural fit was our shared desire to impact our community,” said Adam Rothstein, Director of Operations at Home Team BBQ. “From the onset, we've discussed creating some limited-run beers to tie in our collective efforts. Changegamer is the first fruit of that conversation, and we hope the first of many. A true meet-in-the-middle creative process gave us the beer analog to our signature Gamechanger, and we may have stumbled on an instant favorite. We're excited to share it with a few thousand of our closest friends this Saturday and are looking forward to selling some great beer for a cause that's near and dear to our hearts.”
The “Changegamer” cream ale features notes of orange, pineapple, coconut, spices and lactose mirroring the foundational flavors of the original “Gamechanger.” Wrapped in a colorful co-branded label, the “Changegamer” beer is decked out for the occasion with a mural of the block party festivities.

Collaboration is no stranger to Fleming and Home Team Chief Operating Partner, Aaron Siegel, as they have previously partnered to brew Home Team’s signature house draft “Standard Operating Beer.”
Home Team’s Rock the Block fundraising event will take place on Saturday, February 24 from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm at their downtown Charleston location. The event will feature an award-winning guest chef lineup, beers and craft cocktails, a VIP lounge and live music. The “Changegamer” beer will be available for a limited time.
