The Charleston Museum will host the second installment of its Historic Cocktail and Spirits Series on Thursday, June 20 with a Madeira wine workshop led by Museum Curators and Brittany Olson, Certified Sommelier and owner of Love & Bunches.
Renowned for its resilience and richness, Madeira wine, often hailed as the "immortal wine," was very popular in Charleston during the 18th and 19th centuries. The fortified wine was well-suited for Charleston, a port city, due to the location and high temperatures.
Participants will learn more about Madeira’s influence in Charleston’s history while Sommelier Brittany Olson leads a specially curated tasting of a variety of Madeira wines. The tasting will be complemented by an exclusive look at items from the Museum’s History and Archaeology collections that are not exhibited for the public.
Tickets are all-inclusive and include three wine tastings, a full glass of wine, light bites, a curator talk with access to special Museum collection items, and education from a Sommelier. For guests 21 years of age and older. Reservations are required. You can register online or call 843-722-2996 ext. 235.
