PURE Theatre announced the South Carolina premiere of Jen Silverman’s comedy two-hander, The Roommate. The show will run April 4th through April 27th at the Cannon Street Arts Center.
Sharon (Joy Vandervort Cobb), in her mid-fifties, is recently divorced and needs a roommate to share her Iowa home. Robyn (Sharon Graci), also in her mid-fifties, needs a place to hide and a chance to start over. But as Sharon begins to uncover Robyn’s secrets, they encourage her own deep-seated desire to transform her life completely. A dark comedy about what it takes to re-route your life – and what happens when the wheels come off.
Nakeisha Daniel directs the show, which features PURE powerhouses and real-life friends Sharon Graci and Joy Vandervort-Cobb.
"The Roommate is funny, charming, and daring,” says director Nakeisha Daniel. “It sneaks up on you like an unexpected treat. It's a play that's sure to surprise the audience in more ways than one."
