Self-producing their own Summer Theatre Series, which has already produced memorable runs of Einstein!, Five Lesbians Eating A Quiche and this weekend's Mean Girls: The Musical, Footlight will continue the fun with two more offerings.
The theatre company kicks off its third season of their popular Speakeasy Series on Friday, June 28th with back-to-back lobby performances by Charleston jazz musician Alva Anderson and her new show, "Alva Anderson Swings Broadway." The popular series sees the company transforming the lobby of their historic Queen Street Playhouse (QSP) home into an intimate speakeasy complete with a baby grand piano and a bar right by the action.
Anderson will perform her show twice, once at 6 pm and again at 8 pm accompanied by Frank Duvall on piano.
On July 13th and 14th, Footlight will host the Decade of Decadence concert, a costume-encouraged, 80s live music performance event on the QSP stage. Misha Pekar leads a live band as six Charleston vocalists take the stage for a 90-minute set of some of your favorite 80s classics from The B-52s, Heart, Tina Turner, Rick Astley and much more.
Tickets and information for both shows are available at footilghtplayers.net and @Footlightplayers on Instagram
