On Friday, January 26th, Charleston Moves will host “Light The Night 5.0,” a bi-annual free bike light giveaway and educational campaign in downtown Charleston.
Getting your free bike light set is super easy. All you have to do is pedal to Hampstead Square between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm and Charleston Moves will hook you up with a set and their “Better Streets, Better Ride” spoke cards. The cards feature info on basic legal rights and best practices.
In addition, representatives from the Eastside Community Development Corporation (ECDC) and the Medical University of South Carolina's (MUSC) Safe Kids Charleston Area will be on site. ECDC will have a table with information, resources, and free snacks. MUSC will offer a bike course for children around Hampstead Square. MUSC will donate up to 50 helmets to kids who participate in the bike course (distributed on a first come, first serve basis). Charleston Moves will also offer a safe streets art activity for kids.
Hampstead Square is located at the corner of Columbus and America Streets. For more information on the event, visit the Facebook event page.
