Charlestonians are invited to express their appreciation for Mayor Joe Riley's 40 years of service at a special “Thanks, Joe!” event on Sunday, October 4th. The celebration begins with a free, family-friendly gathering at Brittlebank Park before moving inside Joe Riley Park for even more festivities.
The first portion of the event will run from 3 pm until 7 pm and will include arts, live music, comedy, dance acts, roving performers, a 50-foot Ferris wheel, food trucks, artists, vendors, multiple opportunities to mingle with the Mayor (selfies encouraged!), and a chance to say, “Thanks, Joe!”
Attendees are encouraged to bring a favorite picture or story to place in “The Book of Joe,” which will be given to the Mayor. Photos can be scanned or downloaded during the event, plus there will be photo and video testimonial booths for sharing Joe stories.
The later celebration inside the Park will include music, fireworks, marching bands, musical performances, a video tribute, surprises, and more. Tickets, which are $5, can be purchased via www.ThanksJoe.org, www.Riverdogs.com, or the Joe Riley Park box office.
